Castle: Get A Clue Review

After last weeks episode of Castle, which was a huge disappointment for me (especially for a MilMar episode), I wasn’t as enthusiastic about Get A Clue, as I hoped I would be. The last two episodes of Castle were pretty disappointing with all the characters on the show not growing and going ahead with their lives, but getting back to the way everything was (except for Alexis of course).
But I was pretty happy after I saw Get A Clue last Monday. The case was really fun and interesting. Castle tackled a lot of fun subjects already, and a hunt for a treasure is a nice addition to that.
The episode started with Castle and Martha visiting Alexis in her new place, where she lives with Pi. Of course Castle acted like an ass, like you could have expected, which gave some painfully fun moments. If only Castle had listened to his mother…
The case, what started with a ritualistic set-up crime scene, that went to a killer monk, who ended up not to be a killer, to a treasure hunt with old symbols, which turned out to be a game, which turned out to not be a game, was a good written case with a lot of plot twists. There were some minor impossible things I spotted, like how there was light shining through windows in a secret chamber, but that didn’t bother me too much in enjoying Castle finally being right about the case being a conspiracy. And the sword fighting scene was just awesome!
But then… Castle went to Alexis to apologize for his behavior when he visited Alexis last time. She was mad. And she had a good reason to be. Only she doesn’t have a reason to suddenly act completely out of character by moving in with a guy she only knows for a month. I’ve no clue where this behavior comes from. Where is the smart girl that felt too guilty for not paying for one ride in the public transport that she next time swiped her card twice. Where is the smart girl who is the most responsible teenager you probably ever have seen? Yes, some people get a crazy period in their lives like Britney or Miley, but I would have never expected Alexis to be like this (in a lesser way of course). Her father apologized and promised to do his very best to try to accept Pi and the new situation. But she acted liked a spoiled little kid, what she never was before. What changed? That Castle will marry Beckett? I’m pretty sure, like the rest of us, Alexis could’ve seen it coming. I loved Alexis how she was. Finally a smart and responsible teenager on TV. So, I hope she will come to her senses soon and see the mistakes she made.
But for the actor who plays Pi, Myko Olivier, I’ve to say he does an excellent job in playing a character everyone loves to hate. For a starting actor with the few minutes screen time he had on Castle, he does a great job. Pi is now the most talked about character this season yet.
