Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Picked Up For A Full Season

Today ABC’s president Paul Lee announced in a press release that a full season is ordered of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
“The series opened as TV’s highest-rated drama debut in nearly 4 years (since 11/03/09) and ranks as the No. 1 new show of the 2013-14 season among Adults 18-49 (4.0 Live + Same Day rating/5.7 Live + 3 Day rating). On average, ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ is No. 1 in its Tuesday, 8 o’clock time period, and has more than doubled the young adult delivery in the hour year-to-year (+150%),” the press release says about how well the show is doing, which is likely the main reason for the pick up.
Lead star Clark Gregg and actresses Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Chloe Bennet responded on Twitter to the happy news, as evidenced in the tweets below:

We are overly excited to hear the great news that we can see much more of Agents Coulson, May, Ward, Fitz and Simmons and of course the mysterious and intriguing Skye.
Are you as happy as we are with the full season order?

Castle Preview: The Fast And The Furriest

There are many people who believe in Bigfoot. Some even claim to have seen them. Some even say they have evidence in the form of blurry pictures. But definite proof of the existence of Bigfoot doesn’t exist.
Tonight on ABC’s Castle, we will find out that Richard Castle is open to the idea Bigfoot is real. He and Beckett will investigate the case of the murdered Anne. The Native American victim claims she saw Bigfoot when she was a little girl. And now it seems like she met Bigfoot again in the streets of New York, where he killed her. Or wasn’t it Bigfoot who killed her after all…
“The Fast And The Furriest” seems to be a classic comedic Castle episode in the style of “Demons.” Castle seems to be open to the idea that Bigfoot is real, but Beckett is skeptical, as always. These opposite opinions will make Caskett a little rocky this episode. Will Beckett start doubting herself if there seems to be more and more evidence that Castle’s theory might be right? Or will another one of Castle’s crazy theories be proven wrong, as the killer turn out to be just a human?
Tonight’s episode is directed by Jonathan Frakes, who previously directed this season’s Nebula 9 episode “The Final Frontier.” Christine Roum gets the writing credits.
Lanie fans will not be too happy to learn that Arye Gross, the always grumpy Perlmutter, will return tonight as ME. Raphael Sbarge, known from Once Upon A Time and 24, will play cryptozoologist Dr. Darrell Meeks. Further Palmer Davis will star as Garland Meeks, Albie Selznick as Dr. Paul Devlin, and Aaron Hill ad Kurt Wilson.
Don’t forget to tune in tonight at 10 PM on ABC to find out if Bigfoot does exist or not. And tweet live with many other Castle fans about the episode with #Casquatch.

Eleven Characters We Would Love To See Return On Castle

During the course of the four and a half seasons of Castle, we’ve seen many characters on the show. Some of them we really miss and would love to see them return on Castle someday.
We made a list of the 11 characters we would love to see make a comeback.

11. Castle’s Poker Buddies

We haven’t seen Castle‘s writers slash poker friends for quite a while now. As they always had some good and fun advice to help Castle along with the cases he was working on, we hope they will soon return to the poker table – maybe even with some fresh blood. How amazing would it be if J.K. Rowling suddenly would show up as Castle’s newest poker buddy?

10. Detective Slaughter

It won’t be very likely that Castle will voluntarily shadow Slaughter again after his first time, but Castle and Slaughter had a great chemistry going on, similarly to the actors in the cancelled show Firefly. Baldwin did an amazing job playing a real jerk that everyone loved. Hopefully someday he will be needed on a case.

9. Jenny Ryan

We luckily don’t have to wait very long for the return of Kevin Ryan’s wife. Jenny will make her return in the Ryan-centric episode, “The Wild Rover.”

8. Jim Beckett

We’ve met daddy Beckett a couple of times already, but as diehard Castle fans, we want to know more about Beckett’s past than we already do. Jim Beckett might be very helpful in giving us some insights into the life of young Kate. Maddie, whom we got to know in “Food To Die For,” might be a good option for that, too.
We are pretty certain we will see the father of Beckett back in not too long from now. Caskett is doing great, so maybe we can expect THE question by the end of this season or in season 6. We expect Castle to be old-fashioned and ask Jim for her hand. After that, daddy Beckett has to give away his daughter when Kate will become Richard’s wife.
Another good reason we want Jim back is that in the last episode where he made an appearance, it seemed like he and Martha couldn’t get along, but they managed to set aside their differences. It seemed that something more might even flourish between the parents of Caskett.

7. Natalie Rhodes

In the episode “Nikki Heat,” Natalie Rhodes played an actress who was following Beckett around to get insights for her role in the very first Nikki Heat movie. Since then we haven’t heard much about the movie anymore. Yes, Castle and Beckett went to visit the set, but Natalie Rhodes wasn’t anywhere to be found.
In a future episode we would like to see Natalie Rhodes return and we would love to find out more about the Nikki Heat movie. We are thinking that it might be a great bonus feature for the DVD if there would be a trailer or maybe even the first few minutes from the Nikki Heat movie.

6. Perlmutter

We can’t even express how much we like Lanie as the sassy ME, but she has some rough competition: Sidney Perlmutter. He always is responsible for some funny scenes with his crankiness. Perlmutter turns up every season once or twice, so we have high hopes we will see him and his cranky self back soon.

5. Special Agent Jordan Shaw

In the very first two-parter of Castle we met FBI agent Jordan Shaw who came to help Castle and Beckett solve the murder on the Nikki Heat killer. Her style and the acting by Dana Delany made such an impression on us that we have hoping for her to come back someday.
Maybe we are lucky, as the ratings of Body of Proof are pretty terrible. It is very likely that the show will get cancelled soon, so Delaney might have some spare time she could fill up on the Castle set.

4. Josh (and Beckett’s Other Exes)

We already have seen some of Caste’s exes come by on the show, and we can see in Beckett’s eyes she is hurt by the thought that Castle was with so many other women before her.
Now we would love to see Beckett’s exes return, especially Josh. We think there would be a chance of some amazingly awkward and jealous scenes if Josh would return to try to win Beckett’s heart back – or even just to have him around.

3. Senator Bracken

Since the very first season we follow Kate Beckett in her fight to find justice for her mother. Now she finally found the guy who was responsible for her murder and the murders of many others, but she can’t touch him. Yet.
We would love to see the senator return so Beckett can get the justice she is looking for, especially now that he owes her after she saved his life. What would happen between Beckett and the senator if they would meet again?

2. Castle’s Father

In “Hunt” we finally met the father of Castle, whose name we still don’t know after the episode. Unfortunately his work wouldn’t allow him to stay and bond with his son, granddaughter, or Martha, but we would love him back on the show to just do that. The story that he met Richard before in the library – giving him the book that made him become a writer and telling his son that he was proud of him – always makes us want daddy Castle to come back soon on the show.

1. Captain Roy Montgomery

Although Montgomery is dead, we would love to see him back on the show. We think a flashback would give the writers of the show an excellent opportunity for that.
We miss our old captain. Even though Montgomery has a good replacement with Captain Gates, he always will be in our hearts and minds as the one and only captain of the 12th Precinct.
Which character would you love to see return on Castle?

Who would you like to never ever make a return?

Richard Castle’s S'morelette Recipe

In “Punked,” the fourth episode of Castle‘s third season, our favorite fictional novelist makes breakfast for his mother and daughter. Richard Castle makes them a taste sensation. Martha Rodgers declines his offer, but Alexis isn’t listening to her father and takes unknowingly a bite, and she spits the Smorelette out. We don’t get why. The S'morelette is surprisingly tasty, or like Castle puts it: “A taste sensation.”
Try it yourself!

Castle: Get A Clue Review

After last weeks episode of Castle, which was a huge disappointment for me (especially for a MilMar episode), I wasn’t as enthusiastic about Get A Clue, as I hoped I would be. The last two episodes of Castle were pretty disappointing with all the characters on the show not growing and going ahead with their lives, but getting back to the way everything was (except for Alexis of course).
But I was pretty happy after I saw Get A Clue last Monday. The case was really fun and interesting. Castle tackled a lot of fun subjects already, and a hunt for a treasure is a nice addition to that.
The episode started with Castle and Martha visiting Alexis in her new place, where she lives with Pi. Of course Castle acted like an ass, like you could have expected, which gave some painfully fun moments. If only Castle had listened to his mother…
The case, what started with a ritualistic set-up crime scene, that went to a killer monk, who ended up not to be a killer, to a treasure hunt with old symbols, which turned out to be a game, which turned out to not be a game, was a good written case with a lot of plot twists. There were some minor impossible things I spotted, like how there was light shining through windows in a secret chamber, but that didn’t bother me too much in enjoying Castle finally being right about the case being a conspiracy. And the sword fighting scene was just awesome!
But then… Castle went to Alexis to apologize for his behavior when he visited Alexis last time. She was mad. And she had a good reason to be. Only she doesn’t have a reason to suddenly act completely out of character by moving in with a guy she only knows for a month. I’ve no clue where this behavior comes from. Where is the smart girl that felt too guilty for not paying for one ride in the public transport that she next time swiped her card twice. Where is the smart girl who is the most responsible teenager you probably ever have seen? Yes, some people get a crazy period in their lives like Britney or Miley, but I would have never expected Alexis to be like this (in a lesser way of course). Her father apologized and promised to do his very best to try to accept Pi and the new situation. But she acted liked a spoiled little kid, what she never was before. What changed? That Castle will marry Beckett? I’m pretty sure, like the rest of us, Alexis could’ve seen it coming. I loved Alexis how she was. Finally a smart and responsible teenager on TV. So, I hope she will come to her senses soon and see the mistakes she made.
But for the actor who plays Pi, Myko Olivier, I’ve to say he does an excellent job in playing a character everyone loves to hate. For a starting actor with the few minutes screen time he had on Castle, he does a great job. Pi is now the most talked about character this season yet.

Elementary: We Are Everyone Review

As a big fan of the British BBC series Sherlock, I was very hesitant to watch the American Elementary. I even didn’t watched the first season, but now the second season started and the general thoughts about Elementary weren’t as bad as I expected, I was willing to give it a try.
Tonight the 3rd episode of the season, We Are Everyone, aired. I can’t help myself to compare the show to Sherlock. And compared to that, Elementary is of way lesser quality than the BBC show. But if I try to watch it without Sherlock in mind, Elementary is a pretty decent show. A female Watson seemed like a bad idea, but the chemistry with this version of Sherlock Holmes is working pretty well.
The plot of We Are Everyone is loosely based on the leaks of qualified information over the past years with Wikileaks and Snowden for example, and the hackers group Anonymous. The writers worked this out into a very interesting story, in which Holmes figured out the solution as usual in a way that is quite impressive.
The back pilot of Watson having a profile on a dating site isn’t the most interesting (except for the trains and pizza’s), but there are ways it could turn out to be interesting after all, as long as it won’t be a next Irene Adler/Moriarty type of character.
Overall We Are Everyone was a decent episode, although it didn't win me over yet as a fan yet.

The Tomorrow People Pilot: Review

As a fan of pretty much everything superhero-ish, I looked forward to the premiere of the new CW series The Tomorrow People. And it didn’t disappoint me. Yes, it is not the best season premiere of this season, but by far not the worst either.
In CW series you often see a lot of young pretty looking people, which was the case in The Tomorrow People too. That is one of the reasons why the acting of the CW shows often isn’t from the highest quality. And yes, the acting wasn't the strongest point of The Tomorrow People. But it was just the pilot and there is plenty of room for improvement, especially with the lead actor Robbie Amell, the brother of Arrow’s Stephen Amell. Stephen didn’t start out as the strongest actor either, but he is growing in his performance and is taking his show to one of the best series on TV. So there is definitely hope for his little brother too.
The plot line of the Pilot episode sounded familiar, as The Tomorrow People is a remake from a British show. But it was nonetheless very interesting and I can’t wait where the writers will take the show to in the coming episodes. One thing was pretty questionable. That is that Stephen Jameson didn’t know he had any powers and a few hours later he suddenly was able to teleport pretty easily out of a room where his powers weren’t supposed to work for whatever reason. He seemed to have his new powers under reasonable control quite fast. The struggle to learn their new powers, is for me normally one of the things I find more interesting in super powered people.
The best moment of the episode was that Jameson by accident teleported himself in his sleep in the bed of his neighbors house.
Verdict: Although there are plenty things to improve, the pilot looked very promising. Thumbs up!

Castle Preview: Have Faith, Trust Kate In The Squab And The Quail

After the bombings in Boston, ABC decided last week that the episodes Still and The Squab And The Quail would swap place in the broadcasting schedule. Still was first aired as tonight's episode of Castle, but now Still will be broadcast next week Monday and is replaced by The Squab And The Quail.

In tonight's episode we will see a very jealous Richard Castle. Although he claims he isn't jealous of the inventor, innovator and billionaire bachelor Erik Vaughn. Vaughn's live is in danger after one of his colleagues is murdered. Kate Beckett will be assigned to solve the case and to protect his live.

Beckett falls for the charms of Vaughn, played by Ioan Gruffudd (Mister Fantastic in The Fantastic Four movies, Ringer). He is like an über version of Castle. Beckett can't help to be charmed by him.

We are curious how Castle will handle this, now he is together with Beckett. Castle was clearly jealous before of all the guys who got any attention by Beckett, but since they are together only Beckett had to be jealous in Cloudy With A Chance Of Murder.

A lot of Caskett fans were pretty upset when they saw Erik Vaughn make a move to kiss detective Beckett, but we have no reason to believe Beckett will cheat on Castle. First of all, Beckett isn't the type of girl who would cheat on anyone easily. She for example broke up with Demming first, before she wanted to join Castle in his Hampton's house for the summer after season 2. And it would seem totally out of character if Beckett would cheat on Castle with someone who she only would know a few days. If there will be even a kiss between Vaughn and Beckett, it probably will be somehow necessary for solving the case. But we think they won't even kiss, as Beckett will pull back. So we would like so say to all the Castle fans: Have faith, trust Kate.

Next to Ioan Gruffudd, Russ Bain, Andy Wagner and Jamie Hill will guest star on tonight's episode, written by Jason Wilborn and Adam Frost. Paul Holahan has directed The Squab And The Quail.

Don't forget to tune in tonight at 10 PM on ABC to enjoy a new chapter of Castle. And tweet live with many other Castle fans about the episode with #HaveFaithTrustKate.

If you want to be spoiled, make sure you will check out our website to follow a live updating post under the Castle broadcast of The Squab And The Quail in Canada at 7 PM (EST).

And after the episode has aired we will bring you Castle Cliff Notes, be sure to check them out.

Do you trust Kate?

The Wild Rover Preview: Castle's Detective Ryan's Dark Past

Tonights episode of ABC's Castle will focus more on Seamus Dever's character, Detective Kevin Ryan. Ryan will be forced to go back undercover into the world of the Irish mafia. As his undercover character Fenton O'Connell, Ryan will surprise his colleagues at the 12th Precinct a lot with his dark past.

When a man is found murdered in an industrial cake mixer, Castle, Beckett and the rest of the gang investigate his death (Esposito: "It's like Jimmy kept a lot of dough around here." Castle: "It is a bakery"), what leads them to a gorgeous bar owner, Siobhan O'Doul (played by Cara Buono). To the surprise of his colleagues Ryan has a past with Siobhan, from when he was still working undercover at narcotics. A past he never told anyone at the precinct, or even his wife, about before.

In The Wild Rover, written by Terrence Paul Winter, we will be able to see how Ryan was before he became the man we know him to be now, the always reliable sweater vest guy. Dever, who will live tweet during the airing of the episode in both east and west coast timezones, told what the storyline would be about. Ryan was an undercover narcotics cop for about fifteen months with the Irish Staten Island mob. In that period he met a lot of people, also a woman, where he romantically got involved with. He suddenly disappeared out of her life as his undercover assignment was over, as he had taken down half of the mob with the evidence he gathered.
Now a murder investigation leads to Ryan's former undercover girlfriend. She, and the remainders of the Staten Island mob might be involved in the murder. That is when Ryan wants to go back undercover and take the rest of the mobsters down.

Next to the fact that we will get to know more about Ryan's past, we are really curious about how Castle saves himself out of a situation with Beckett. First everything seems fine as Castle admits he is not craving for food, but for Beckett. But as she pulls back if he wants to kiss her, he founds out she heard him say "Jordan" fourteen times in his sleep. Who or what is this Jordan? We think it might possibly be Jordan Shaw, who we met in the first season and still is a fan favorite guest star. Another possibility might be that me means the country Jordan. Perhaps Castle wants to surprise his lady friend with a trip.

Make sure you will stay tuned till the last second, as there might be some baby news at the end of the episode. Tonight we will find out if Jenny (played by Dever's real life wife Juliana Dever) will be pregnant of detective Ryan or not (yet).

We are a bit worried that not everyone might like the episode as much, as it will be more focused on Ryan. There won't be too much Caskett in it, although we think the real fans will appreciate that we will see more about Detective Ryan. And Nathan Fillion expects fans to be pleased with this episode.

Be sure to check out our Castle Cliff Notes, after The Wild Rover has aired and let us know your thoughts about the episode.

Castle Exclusive: Interview with Kelly Sue DeConnick (writer Storm Season and Deadly Storm)

Almost a month ago the second Derrick Storm graphic novel was released by Marvel. As we already expected Storm Season was another masterpiece by writers Brian Michael Bendis and Kelly Sue DeConnick, the dynamic duo that worked together on Deadly Storm too.

We are very thankful that Kelly Sue DeConnick was so kind to take some time out of her busy schedule to give 12th Precinct an exclusive interview about Storm Season.

12th Precinct:
Different scenes from Richard Castle's books are mentioned in the TV show. Were there plot points you had to use in Storm Season because of that? Or were you allowed to make up the story yourself (together with Brian Michael Bendis), while you only had to follow the synopsis of the "novel"?

Kelly Sue:
The latter--Mr. Marlowe was amazing and very gracious.  He went beyond just allowing us freedom to tell the story that excited us; he actively encouraged it. Cannot sing his praises enough.

12th Precinct:
In the first graphic novel Derrick Storms character grew a lot. At the start he was a simple  detective, desperate for money, doing every job he could get. At the end he was doing quite well and has been working freelance for the CIA. How is he doing at the start from Storm Season? What happened with Storm in the year that is set between the two stories?

Kelly Sue:
He's in a very comfortable place at the beginning of Storm Season. A year and a half has passed since we saw him last and in that time Storm's found his groove, gotten comfortable in his bespoke suits, learned to like his new life. But something nags at him as the anniversary of Nicaragua creeps up--guilt, maybe.  Maybe just the gnaw of what's missing in his life.

12th Precinct:
There are some known characters from Deadly Storm and there are some new characters introduced in Storm Season. Which character did you had the most fun writing for?

Kelly Sue:
Boy, that's tough.  Polly Matthews, who's a new character, tickled me.  And I love the Storm Investigations supporting cast -- Sassy, Rebecca and Carl.  I love their dynamics with Derrick and with each other.  And Helen!  More to Helen than meets the eye.  And new character David and Sarah.

If I'd been able to continue, I had plans for David.

12th Precinct:
If you were asked to write an episode for Castle, what would it be about?

Kelly Sue:
Hm…

I'd never thought about it until you asked, but now that I have I like my idea enough that I want to hold onto it, maybe use it for something else down the line.

12th Precinct:
For Deadly Storm you said Clara Strike was mainly influenced by the character of Beckett. Has that changed now we have met Sophia Turner, Castle's original inspiration for Clara?

Kelly Sue:
No, though she may have informed my notion of Helen, oddly enough.

I think Clara was the idealized version of Sophia, the person Castle wanted to believe she was…. a person who, as it happens, is much closer to the person Kate is.

Odd sentence structure that, but I think you probably follow.

12th Precinct:
James Bond, or a certain British secret agent, was on the mind of Castle when he started to write Storm novels. Was 007 an inspiration for you too, in writing the Storm graphic novels?

Kelly Sue:
We used the idea that he starts as Jim Rockford and turns into Jason Bourne.  And since Bourne clearly has 007 in his DNA, that works.

There's a really great thing about Casino Royale that kind of carries over, though. My friend Warren Ellis pointed this out to me and it's brilliant -- at the start of Casino Royale, Bond is really embodying the role traditionally played by the Bond Girl--he's the one, for instance, who comes out of the water in his swimsuit like Honey Ryder.  Vesper is much more Bond than Bond. In the end, she has to die so that he can become her.  It's really amazing.

I had something like that in mind for Clara -- she outshined him in every way.  She had to die so that he could become her.

Well… "die."

12th Precinct:
Was it kept in mind that Castle never knew his own father in portraying a father for Derrick Storm in the graphic novel?

Kelly Sue
Not overtly. Carl's an interesting man, though. Even his masks wear masks.

12th Precinct:
Brian Michael Bendis was originally asked to write the Storm graphic novel alone and you said you pretty much hated him for that. With what did you "threaten" him to let him pick you as co-writer, when it became obvious that he needed one because of a busy schedule?

Kelly Sue:
Oh, Brian's actually a very good friend of mine. I didn't really threaten him so much as I threw a fit in his kitchen. I'm five feet tall. I'm not actually all that scary.

When he was shooting the DVD extra thing, he sent me taunting text messages. I don't think he would have done that if he were legitimately frightened.

12th Precinct:
This graphic novel you are working with a different artist than the first graphic novel, Emanuela Lupacchino. How was it to work with her?

Kelly Sue:
She's a DREAM. Great acting, so expressive. And really fun. And did you note how well she dresses everyone? I literally wrote to her at one point and asked about Sassy's boots. I loved them so much I wanted a pair.

12th Precinct:
There will be another graphic novel about a Derrick Storm. You won't be doing this project, because you will be too busy doing another project. What can you tell us about that?

Kelly Sue:
I got the offer to do an Avengers book and as much as it crushed me to leave Castle, for a comic book writer getting the chance to write the Avengers is pretty much a brass ring. I just couldn't turn it down. And sadly, I'm kind of a slow writer so there was no way I could do both.

12th Precinct:
Will there be any link with the Avengers project you are working on and the upcoming ABC TV show about S.H.I.E.L.D.? The show won't have the Avengers from the movie starring as series regulars, but maybe characters like Captain Marvel or Spider-woman you are writing about now, could star?

Kelly Sue:
I'm not aware of any plans for a crossover, but that's a really good idea.  Synergy!  It's the way of the entertainment future, right?

Have you already bought and read Storm Season? What did you think about it?
If you haven't gotten Deadly Storm yet, you can do that here.
And you can pre-order the new Derrick Storm short series, A Calm Before The Storm here. We found out that A Calm Before The Storm is the second most popular Marvel series, before the Avengers project Kelly Sue Deconnick is working on now.

Doctor Who Is Back! The 10 Most Interesting Moments From Deep Breath

After waiting quite a while, Doctor Who returned this week to your TV. Although Peter Capaldi has been seen in a glimpse in the role of the 12th Doctor in The Day Of The Doctor, in Deep Breath we finally saw him fully in action.

Before the 8th season in the reboot area started, there was a lot of speculation in the media and on social media about the way Capaldi would fill in his role as the 12th regeneration from the beloved titular character. As most predicted the Doctor was indeed more dark and mysterious than his predecessors, which promises a lot of good moments in the rest of the season.

But first 10 of the best, most interesting, fun or weird moments of Deep Breath:

1. A dinosaur in Victorian area London, spitting out the TARDIS.

The episode opens with a giant dinosaur taking a walk in the Thames and doing some sightseeing of the Big Ben and the House of Parliament. He is gagging and suddenly he coughs up a very familiar blue box.
For the first time since last December, we see the TARDIS again.

2. The Doctor is confused.

After every regeneration the Doctor changes from face and most of the times from personality too. He has to get accustomed with his new self. The 11th Doctor for example had a ginormous craving for something, but her didn't know what. Until he tried fish fingers in custard. Capaldi's Doctor had some struggles too to find out who he became. He suddenly looked older than before and now has attack-eyebrows. Also the concept of a bedroom seemed strange to him.
The new Doctor had some problems remembering the right names with the right people too.

3. The veil.

The scene of the veil matters, as it shows a lot of character development. First of all how Clara is feeling about the regeneration and the new face of the Doctor. The beautiful way that Moffat made clear what the moment was Clara accepted that the new Doctor was really the same Doctor she knew before, was the usage of the veil. At the beginning of the scene Madame Vastra weirds a veil, as she is not accepted for who she is by many people. The ones who don't accept her how she is, see the veil. Clara saws the veil, because she didn't accept who the Doctor now was. But the moment she did, Vastra's veil was gone. In this scene we learn also about how Vastra sees the world and how the world sees her and we have a look into her personal life with Jenny.

How Clara sees the new Doctor, might represent how the viewers also need to accept the new face of the Doctor.

4. Did he jump or did the Doctor push.

One of the big questions after this episode is if the Doctor pushed the Clockwork droid, or did he jump himself. The new area incarnations of the Doctor where all for saving lives. With this Doctor that might be different. In this scene the new darker and mysterious character of the Doctor clearly comes forward.

Which one of the two it was, the aiming was perfect. The dead body of the Half-Faced Man landed exactly on the Big Ben and turned into a droid kebab.

5. New title sequence.

With a new Doctor and a new way he is handling things, there is a new title sequence too. While the previous title sequence payed a homage to the older title sequences, during the anniversary of 50 years Doctor Who, the new title sequence seems more steampunk like. This fits pretty well with the outfit of the 12th Doctor, the area the first episodes is set it and the monster of the episode. Next to the title sequence, the music is updated to be more fitting with the graphics.

Fun fact: the new title sequence is based the title sequence made by a fan as fan art.

6. The alley.

In the scene in the alley, Capaldi shows a lot of his skills. The one moment his character is looking for himself. The next moment he wonders where he saw his own face before and if there is a reason he is stuck with this face now. Then his comedic skills get a chance to shine by mentioning his noticeable eyebrows and the realization he has a Scottish accent. A colder, darker side is shown with almost attacking the guy in the alley, so he would give of his coat.

The detective skills of the new Doctor showed in deducing what the news paper ad meant.

7. 11th Doctor calling.

It must have come as a surprise to everyone. The cameo of Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor in an emotional scene. The 11th Doctor didn't really return, but he did make a phone call from the past to reassure Clara and ask for her help for the new incarnation of himself at the same time.

After the call, Clara, who was on the edge of leaving the TARDIS and the Doctor behind for good, realized finally that the Doctor still was the Doctor. Even though he had a new face new.

8. Jenny & Vastra's kiss.

To be honest, it wasn't really a kiss, but a transfer of oxygen from the lungs of Madame Vastra to Jenny. If Moffat was trying to make a point by showing a lesbian inter species mouth to mouth action is unclear. But we do hope the show doesn't go for evolving in a more sexualized show. After all, Doctor Who should be viewable for people of all ages.

Next to the kiss-that-was-not-a-kiss, the scene with Jenny posing for Vastra falls in the same category in which we hope the show won't go.

9. The return of the Clockwork droids.

After the Weeping Angles, the Clockwork droids are the second creation by Steven Moffat to return on the show. This weeks monster of the week first appeared in the fan favorite episode The Girl In The Fireplace, they fought against Madame de Pompadour. Their goal was to gain organs and mechanics to repair their ship to take them to the promised land.

Like the Weeping Angels have the line "Don't Blink" attached to them, the Clockwork droids got the line "Don't breathe," this week.

10. The Mysterious Woman in "Heaven"

In the epilogue of the episode, the Half-Faced Man wakes up to a mysterious place and an even more mysterious woman. The woman introduces herself as Missy and tells the Clockwork droid that he is in heaven. There are many speculations going around on the internet about who Missy could be, from a brand new bad girl to River Song. And is she the one responsible for giving Clara the Doctor's phone number last season and for placing the news paper listing this episode.

Who Missy really is, and what she has to do with the Doctor, will hopefully be revealed soon.

Bonus: I am Scottish.

I am Scottish. That means that I can complain.
